Norwegian scientists linked low vitamin A levels in pregnant women to high birth weight of newborns
A study of data from 723 women with uncomplicated pregnancies showed: a decrease in retinol concentration in late pregnancy was accompanied by an increase in the child's birth weight. In 43% of the participants, vitamin A levels were insufficient, but pronounced deficiency was rare. The authors emphasize that no cause-and-effect relationship is being claimed.
