Former psychiatrist of Kresty prison spoke about violence in the penitentiary system
Psychiatrist Alexey Gavrish, who worked for seven years in the St. Petersburg pre-trial detention facility Kresty until leaving the system before 2016, said in an interview with Gazeta.Ru that employees who reveled in their power did not stay in the system for long, because they violated the main principle of the zone — calm. According to him, the resentment accumulated by inmates sooner or later spills over into problems, and the mindset of the staff is passed on to the contingent.
