UK grid operator assures no blackouts this winter despite engineers' concerns
The National Energy System Operator (NESO) published its winter outlook, assuring that the UK's power system is prepared for the cold and resilient to possible challenges. However, the report came after an independent investigation by Eversheds Sutherland revealed a 'high level of stress and concern' among engineers due to the difficulties of balancing renewable and gas generation, as well as a 'significant disconnect' between dispatchers and management. A whistleblower's complaints about the concealment of records were not substantiated.
