In Uzbekistan, from October 20, interrogations of child crime victims in Samarkand will take place at the special 'Najot' center without a court summons

By presidential decree PQ–375 of October 14, 2026, a 'Najot' center is being created in Samarkand for procedural actions involving minor crime victims. Audio and video recordings of interrogations can be used in court without summoning the child, and from 2027 children will receive free lawyers.

UNICEF welcomed the law signed in Uzbekistan on protecting children from violence

Acting Head of the UNICEF Office in Uzbekistan Geoffrey Ijumba welcomed the signing of a law aimed at improving the system of protecting children from all forms of violence. According to him, the changes expand state legal aid for affected children and strengthen accountability in educational institutions. The upcoming opening of the 'Najot' center based on the Barnahus model was also noted.
