Istanbul restores the vanished Bostancilar Tabhanesi Mosque after about 70 years
The Bostancilar Tabhanesi Mosque (Yedekciler), built under Suleiman the Magnificent for ailing palace gardeners and demolished in the 1950s during the construction of a coastal road, is being restored in the Sarayburnu area by the Fatih municipality. Mayor Mehmet Ergun Turan said the work is funded by donors rather than the budget: eight mosques have already been restored, and ten more are in progress.
