Pentagon and Lockheed Martin sign 10-year framework agreement for 850 F-35 fighters
On October 22, the Pentagon and Lockheed Martin announced a 10-year framework agreement providing for the purchase of at least 850 F-35 fighters for the US Armed Forces, as well as spare parts, upgrade kits and international orders. The company committed to investing at least $7 billion of its own funds and maintaining a production rate of 156 aircraft per year. The deal requires Congressional approval; the final cost has not been disclosed.
