Five missing in the Pacific Ocean found alive after three months of drifting
A group of nine people set out in late July from Murilo Island (Micronesia) for the neighboring island of Ro, but the boat was swept by a storm into the open ocean. The search, which lasted until August 9, yielded no results. On November 1, the boat was spotted by residents of Fanning Island (Kiribati) — the current had carried it roughly 5,500 km. Five people were rescued, including two children; the fate of the other four remains unknown.
