Automattic begins layoffs after board upheaval and departure of top executives
Automattic — the parent company of WordPress.com, WooCommerce and Tumblr — has begun layoffs affecting communications, social media, WordPress.com and the VIP business. TechCrunch sources say the cuts may continue in the coming months. This follows a failed attempt by the board of directors to remove CEO Matt Mullenweg in September and the departure of a number of top executives, including the CFO and chief legal officer.
