EA cuts 400 employees and shuts down BioWare; new Mass Effect cancelled
Electronic Arts announced the layoff of 400 employees (3% of its workforce) and the closure of BioWare, a studio founded in 1995. The next Mass Effect game and one of The Sims projects (Project Lotus) have been cancelled. The decision followed EA's purchase by investors led by Saudi Arabia for $55 billion in August.
