Norway prepares tests of a marine nuclear microreactor for ships
The Research Council of Norway has funded the MarNuPS project to create replaceable small modular reactors for maritime transport. Tests of a full-scale mock-up without nuclear fuel are planned to begin in 2027 near Ålesund, and the company Island Offshore intends to be the first to install a reactor on a supply vessel in 2031–2032.
