Bears have gone into hibernation in the Magadan region, but caution is still urged in the forests
Elena Slobodyanyuk, head of the Hunting Supervision Directorate of the Magadan region, said that bears in the region have already entered winter hibernation, including in the vicinity of Magadan. At the same time, the risk of encountering 'shatuns' — individuals that have not fallen asleep due to illness or young age — remains in the forests. On the coast, bears traditionally fall asleep later than in the central districts of the region.
