Psychiatrist with seven years of experience at Kresty explained why inmates stage disturbances
Psychiatrist Alexey Gavrish, who worked for seven years at the St. Petersburg pre-trial detention facility Kresty, told Gazeta.Ru that a frequent cause of inmates' breakdowns is an 'acute stress reaction'. He cited the case of a detainee arrested for robbery, whom police officers told scary stories about the detention facility: the anticipation of conflict led him to knock out three men during a walk and bite his own hands.
