Macao issues first verdict under national security law: ex-legislator Au Kam San sentenced to 12.5 years
A Macao court has sentenced former legislator and human rights activist Au Kam San to 12 years and 6 months in prison for 'subversion of state power'. This is the first known case under the national security law in force since 2009. The trial was held behind closed doors, drawing criticism, including from the EU.
