UNICEF: record number of grave violations of children's rights in conflicts recorded in 2025
At a UN Security Council briefing marking the 30th anniversary of Graça Machel's report, UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell reported more than 38,000 verified grave violations in 2025 and urged the Council to act immediately. For the first time, the majority of violations were committed by government forces.
