Belgian King concludes consultations with governing parties amid crisis triggered by government's resignation offer
King Philippe of Belgium has completed a series of bilateral consultations with the leaders of the governing parties after Prime Minister Bart De Wever offered the government's resignation on Monday due to the coalition's failure to agree on budget measures. On Thursday, the King received the last of the leaders — N-VA chairwoman Valerie Van Peel — and on Friday a new meeting with De Wever is expected, after which the fate of the resignation will be decided.
