UAE Retailers Pledge to Keep Grocery Prices in Check Amid Disruptions from War with Iran
UAE grocery chains and producers, including Lulu Group and Al Ain Farms, said they are ready to hold prices on essential goods and keep shelves stocked amid supply disruptions caused by the war with Iran, which began on February 28. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has driven up global prices for food, transport, insurance and energy; food inflation in the UAE reached 8.05% in September. The government monitors prices through a dedicated platform and has carried out more than 7,000 inspections.
