GM to close battery assembly plant near Detroit — company ties it to lease expiration, not EV strategy
GM confirmed the closure of the Brownstown Battery Assembly plant south of Detroit, where batteries were assembled for the Cadillac Celestiq and Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray. A company spokesperson said the decision is not related to the EV strategy: GM leased the facility, and the lease is expiring. Employees and work will be transferred to other GM facilities.
