UK government promises reform of vaccine damage compensation scheme after Covid inquiry criticism
The UK government has said it is ready to review the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme (VDPS) following Baroness Hallett's report calling for urgent reform. More than 24,000 claims have been submitted, but only just over 1% resulted in one-off payments of £120,000. The campaign group Vaccine Injured and Bereaved UK welcomed the recognition of the problem but demanded concrete commitments and timelines.
