Nigeria moves closer to creating regional police: 28 legislatures back the amendment
28 of Nigeria's 36 state legislative assemblies have approved a constitutional amendment allowing states to establish their own police forces. This exceeds the required two-thirds threshold of 24 assemblies. What remains is to complete the procedures and forward the bill to President Bola Tinubu for signature.
