Vladislav Grib, deputy secretary of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, proposed giving Halloween a national character and renaming it a holiday of the Russian fairy tale with characters such as Koschei and Baba Yaga. The Russian Orthodox Church stated that the times of Halloween's popularity in Russia have passed.
