Five survivors found near Fanning Island after three months adrift in the Pacific Ocean
A group of nine people, including children, set out on July 30 in a boat between the islands of Murilo and Ruo in Micronesia but ran into a storm. Five of them, including two children, were spotted by residents near Fanning Island (Kiribati) after about three months; according to reports, they drifted some 5,400 km. The fate of the other four remains unknown.
