Germany appoints Christian Freuding as new Chief of Staff of the Bundeswehr
Germany's Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has appointed Army Commander Christian Freuding as the next Chief of Defense — the Bundeswehr's highest-ranking officer. He will take office in February 2027, succeeding General Carsten Breuer, who was earlier elected Chairman of the NATO Military Committee.
