Citizen Lab: Israeli companies delivered spyware via ads without a click

Citizen Lab's investigation showed that the Israeli advertising company Discover-Tech used targeted advertising infrastructure to deliver Candiru (Integrity Labs) spyware without any interaction from the victim. The attacks affected at least 45 Al Jazeera devices in 2024–2025, and the ads reached government networks in 24 countries.

Citizen Lab: Zero-click spyware delivered through ad networks

Citizen Lab reports that the Israeli company Discover-Tech, through its advertising platform Controlium, enabled the makers of Candiru and Bindecy spyware to deliver zero-click spyware via online ads. At least 45 Al Jazeera computers were infected; potentially malicious ads were also shown on devices of the IAEA and the ICC.
