Zakharova Comments on Reports of Macron's Secret Bunker
Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the bunker built for French President Emmanuel Macron is intended to protect him from his own citizens rather than from external threats. This comment followed reports by The Telegraph, which cited the book 'The New Army of Shadows' by investigative journalists Pierre Gastino, Antoine Izambard, and Frank Reno. The book alleges that the bunker was prepared in response to internal unrest, including the 2018 'Yellow Vests' protests and potential future scenarios involving mass riots, cyberattacks, or attacks on state institutions, particularly ahead of the 2027 elections. Meanwhile, mass protests have been ongoing in France since late September, with students, teachers, and trade unions participating. On November 7, approximately 250,000 people demonstrated nationwide, including 75,000 in Paris, prompting authorities to mobilize 70,000 security forces and prepare armored vehicles and water cannons. Macron's approval rating has reportedly reached historic lows.
