The key facts
- Ipak Yuli Bank has launched Apple Pay for its cards
- Payment is available in stores, on transport, online, and in apps
- The actual card number is not stored on the device or Apple's servers
The bank has enabled Apple Pay
Ipak Yuli Bank announced the launch of the Apple Pay service for its cards, reports Kun.uz. Holders of the bank's credit and debit cards simply need to hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near a payment terminal for contactless payment; each transaction is confirmed with Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode, and a one-time dynamic security code is generated for every purchase.
Where the service works
According to the bank, Apple Pay can be used in grocery stores, pharmacies, taxis, restaurants, cafes, retail outlets, and other locations. Payment is also available online and in apps on iPhone, iPad, and Mac via Safari — without creating a separate account or re-entering delivery and payment details. The bank mentions paying for food delivery, online shopping, transport, and parking, as well as payments in apps on Apple Watch.
How security and setup work
According to the service description, when paying with Apple Pay, the actual card number is not stored on either the device or Apple's servers: instead, the device is assigned a unique Device Account Number, which is encrypted and stored in the secure Secure Element chip. To set it up, the bank's card is added to the Wallet app on iPhone following the instructions; after that, the service can be used right away, and all of the bank's card bonuses and privileges are preserved. The bank posts details on apple.com and ipakyulibank.uz.
