Ovechkin on supercars and Aurus
Russian hockey player Alexander Ovechkin, in an interview with Auto Mail, said that he loves powerful sports cars, but due to his tall stature and impressive size he does not fit into some Ferrari and Aston Martin models. According to him, not only speed and power matter to him, but also comfort, and in the cramped interiors of some supercars this is a problem. Ovechkin admitted that he dreams of someday driving a race car on a track, but so far he has not managed to do it.
Aurus Arsenal and the number '8'
In Moscow, the athlete gets around in a domestic Aurus Arsenal. According to him, the minivan fully meets his requirements. 'I really like the car. It has everything you need: comfort, power, and, accordingly, the number eight!' said the hockey player. He takes special pride in the license plate with his signature eight — the number under which he has played throughout his career.
The garage and first driving lessons
A special place in Ovechkin's garage is occupied by the white Mercedes-Benz G 65 AMG with a 12-cylinder engine, bought during the NHL lockout, when he spent a season in Russia. The hockey player is not going to sell the Gelandewagen for any money. But he had to part with his first BMW M6, bought in his debut year playing for Washington. Ovechkin began learning to drive with his father in a Volkswagen Multivan with a manual transmission: once he decided to make a flashy start from a traffic light, but broke the gearbox, after which the lessons had to be paused for a while.
Fines over the summer
Earlier, Life.ru reported, citing Mash na Sporte, that during the summer holidays in Russia Ovechkin received 33 traffic fines totaling 82 thousand rubles. The violations were recorded on his Aurus Arsenal with plate 008: speeding, unpaid parking, and stopping in unauthorized places. By that time, the athlete had paid off almost all of the charges; only one fine of 4.5 thousand rubles remained.
