Galatasaray got the better of Lille
Galatasaray earned their first win in the current Champions League campaign, beating Lille away 4:2. Both teams came into the third matchday without a point, having lost their first two games. The Turkish champions took the lead as early as the second minute: Baris Alper Yilmaz crossed from the left flank, defender Alexandro failed to clear the ball, and Yunus Akgun shot past goalkeeper Berke Ozer. Lille equalized five minutes later — Alexandro sent Soriba Diounne through one-on-one, he rounded Ugurcan Cakir and rolled the ball into an empty net. In the 39th minute the hosts went ahead: Cakir parried a shot from Dylan Bakwa, but Hakon Haraldsson set up Diounne, who completed his brace. Five minutes before the break Galatasaray leveled the score — from a Roland Sallai cross, Alexey Batrakov won the header unchallenged and headed the ball past Ozer.
Second half: three Galatasaray goals
After the break Galatasaray went ahead again in the 52nd minute: from a corner taken by Gabriel Sara, Lucas Torreira headed the ball into the net — Ozer got both hands to it but could not hold on. In the 61st minute Victor Osimhen extended the lead on a counterattack started by Batrakov: the Nigerian striker exchanged passes with Yilmaz and shot past Ozer, making the final score 4:2. Osimhen, who previously played for Lille, refused to celebrate the goal. Galatasaray saw the match out for the win, while Lille remained without a point after three matchdays.
Como thrash Manchester United
Como sensationally beat Manchester United 4:1. Both teams had three points from their first two matches before the game. Argentine playmaker Nico Paz opened the scoring in the second minute, curling the ball into the far bottom corner past Senne Lammens. Four minutes after the break Paz played a through ball to Anastasios Douvikas, who got past Matthijs de Ligt and scored the second goal. In the 57th minute Paz completed his brace, capitalizing on a lost ball by Carlos Baleba — 3:0. In the 76th minute Jacobo Ramon headed in a cross from Kaiky after a counterattack. In stoppage time substitute Joshua Zirkzee, who had replaced captain Bruno Fernandes in the 67th minute, pulled one back by finishing a cross from Amad Diallo.
Pressure on Carrick grows
The defeat extended Manchester United's winless run to seven matches in all competitions, which, according to Anadolu, increases the pressure on head coach Michael Carrick.
