A surgeon as a psychologist
A good plastic surgeon should understand their role in the fate of patients and be, among other things, a psychologist for them. This was stated in an interview with Rossiya Segodnya media group General Director Dmitry Kiselyov by chief freelance specialist, plastic surgeon of the Russian Health Ministry and the Moscow Healthcare Department Natalya Manturova. According to her, the doctor's mindset and attitude toward the patient and the work matter: 'Either he works for the sake of working, or he still takes some part in the fate of his patient and also works a bit as a psychologist.'
Growth in the number of honest specialists
Manturova also noted that Russia is seeing an increase in the number of conscientious and honest plastic surgeons.
A cosmetologist's view on patients' requests
Earlier, cosmetologist Mikhail Voronov told Gazeta.Ru that a plastic surgeon evaluates a face by how it looks in reality, while patients often come with photographs where the face looks different and ask to fix something that does not actually exist. He also suggested a simple way to check for asymmetry: open your photo and alternately cover the left and right halves. If the difference is noticeable, you should pay attention to sun protection — sunscreen is needed all year round and on both sides of the face, including the shaded one, and in the car especially on the side by the window.
