Attack in Juhu

Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff survived a shooting attack in Mumbai and, according to Indian police, was not hit by gunfire. The 36-year-old actor was in a car leaving a football club in the Juhu suburb when the vehicle came under fire on Sunday evening. Several news outlets published video showing at least two shooters firing several shots at close range toward the front passenger seat of the slowly moving car as it passed a crowd.

Casualties and authorities' response

According to local media reports citing police, two people were injured in the shooting, including Shroff's driver. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the actor the same evening and said that Shroff and his mother were 'shaken' by the attack. 'These attempts to intimidate people will not be tolerated, and we will put an end to this hooliganism,' Shinde said.

Context: attacks on public figures

The incident heightened concerns about the safety of public figures in India, some of whom have been targeted in attacks in recent years. In 2024, police arrested two members of a criminal gang for an armed attack on the home of actor Salman Khan. That same year, influential politician Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai.

About the actor

Tiger Shroff, the son of two actors, made his film debut in 2014 in the romantic film 'Heropanti' and starred in several subsequent films. He is also passionate about football and plays for the professional club Mumbai FC.
