The key facts

  • The StarGate drone lifts up to 150 kg and flies at speeds of up to 105 km/h
  • The manufacturer claims evacuation time can be cut from hours or days to minutes
  • The prototype is being tested by a Ukrainian combat brigade; independent confirmation of its effectiveness is not yet available

A flying ambulance for the front line

The Ukrainian company SkyFall has unveiled a remotely piloted aircraft, StarGate, designed to evacuate the wounded from areas that ground vehicles cannot reach. According to the manufacturer, the drone can lift payloads of up to 150 kg and reach speeds of up to 105 km/h. The ability to fly over minefields, rivers and destroyed roads could shorten risky routes from the front line.

Manufacturer's claims

SkyFall claims that StarGate can reduce evacuation time from several hours or even days to mere minutes, allowing wounded service members to receive medical care faster. In footage released by the company, a representative exits the cockpit after landing, while the operator remains at a distance.

Technology and additional features

The aircraft uses Starlink connectivity and SkyFall's own L-Link system, as well as artificial intelligence-based technologies that allow it to operate under satellite navigation jamming. The video also shows the drone deploying a net to intercept an enemy drone.

Testing and uncertainty

A prototype has been handed over to a Ukrainian combat brigade for testing in conditions close to combat. SkyFall has not yet published the test results, and the drone's effectiveness in real combat evacuations remains unconfirmed by independent sources.
