ChatGPT Is Ahead, but Competitors Are Closing the Gap
ChatGPT remains the leader in traffic among chatbots, but Gemini and Claude are catching up with it, Kun.uz reports, citing an infographic by Visual Capitalist based on Similarweb data. The ranking counts website visits through browsers on desktop and mobile devices; the use of AI features built into apps, APIs and other products is not included. The figures also reflect the number of visits, not unique users: one person may visit a site several times.
September 2026 Figures
In September 2026, the Gemini website was visited 2.6 billion times. Claude, which took third place, recorded nearly a billion visits — more than the combined figure for the DeepSeek, Grok, Copilot and Perplexity websites. ChatGPT and Gemini together account for the bulk of traffic to chatbot websites, while the remaining platforms account for less than one fifth of total traffic.
Year-Long Dynamics
From October 2025 to September 2026, Gemini and Claude were the only major chatbots to increase their share. In the source, Gemini's growth is attributed to Google's broad user base, and Claude's growth to its capabilities in programming and working with information, as well as rising recognition. Claude rose from fifth place in October 2025 to third. Over the same period, the combined share of DeepSeek, Grok, Copilot and Perplexity fell from 11.4% to 8.1%.
Limitations of the Ranking
Microsoft Copilot took sixth place with a share of 1.5%, but this figure does not cover the use of Copilot within Windows and Microsoft Office. Thus, as noted in the material, the ranking reflects visits to chatbot websites specifically, not their overall popularity across all platforms.
