Reasons for the increase in heating and hot water tariffs in Uzbekistan have been named Discussions on changes to energy tariffs and measures to support the population during the heating season were held in Uzbekistan - reports a UPL correspondent.

In Uzbekistan, changes are proposed to the energy tariff system aimed at supporting socially vulnerable segments of the population and reducing electricity expenses in non-gasified areas of the country. In particular, it is proposed to increase the monthly social norm of electricity consumption for such consumers during the heating season from 200 to 350 kWh. In addition, the price of electricity within the range of 201 to 350 kWh is proposed to be reduced from 900 to 650 sums per 1 kWh. Thus, households will be able to save from 25 to 37.5 thousand sums per month. This norm will cover about 80% of consumers in non-gasified areas.

In addition, in Uzbekistan it is proposed to increase heating and hot water supply tariffs nationwide starting from November 1 of this year. Prices are planned to be raised by 30%. However, it was noted that despite the tariff increase, the cost of providing services will be 4 times higher than the established tariffs, meaning that in fact citizens of the country pay only 25% of the total cost of hot water supply and heating.

In the current heating season, families in need will be given one-time financial assistance in the amount of 1 million sums. It is emphasized that this will apply not only to families included in the Social Register, but also to other households whose incomes meet the established criteria. More than 1 million 17 thousand households will receive financial assistance.

Until April 1, 2028, the practice of compensation for the consumption of electricity and natural gas above the established basic norms will be extended. By expanding the income criteria, an additional 166 thousand families will be covered by the payments. For another 470 thousand families, the provision of assistance is expected to be extended by one year.

For families included in the Social Register, it is proposed to establish a compensation of 3 thousand sums for each kilogram of liquefied gas with monthly consumption of up to 20 kilograms. Thus, for such families the price of liquefied gas will remain at the level of 2 thousand sums per kilogram.

Also, 240 billion sums will be allocated to housing energy efficiency in Uzbekistan, which will improve the energy efficiency of 3 thousand houses belonging to families under state care and classified as "severe" category neighborhoods (mahallas).

The circle of recipients of financial assistance to cover expenses for fuel and utilities is also planned to be expanded. In addition to families included in the Social Register, other households meeting the established income criteria will also be able to receive support.

At present, the "Sakhovat va Kumak" fund provides the following assistance mechanisms:
1. For payment of current utility expenses - up to 1 base calculated value;
2. For repayment of utility service debts - up to 5 BRV;
3. For the purchase of coal and other types of fuel - up to 2 BRV;
4. For the purchase of fuel in non-gasified areas - up to 3 BRV.
