The key facts

  • RST: no mass complaints from organized Russian tourists in Vietnam
  • Insurance companies are also not reporting mass inquiries
  • Earlier, complaints were reported from tourists in Nha Trang about an unidentified illness

Tourism union denies complaints are widespread

Influenza incidence in Vietnam remains at the level usual for the season, and no mass complaints of feeling unwell have been received from organized Russian tourists — this was reported to TASS by the press service of the Russian Union of Travel Industry. According to RST representatives, insurance companies are also not recording mass inquiries. «According to information from tour operators surveyed by the RST, no mass complaints of illness from organized Russian tourists in Vietnam have been received so far,» the organization's statement says.

What was reported earlier

Earlier, Life.ru reported complaints from Russian tourists in Vietnam about an unknown illness: vacationers in Nha Trang described a sharp rise in temperature, a lingering cough and severe headaches, and one family had to go to hospital due to their child's deteriorating condition. The exact pathogen was not identified. Thus, the new RST data concern specifically the scale of the inquiries and do not negate the isolated cases reported earlier.

The situation is being monitored

The RST clarified that it has sent inquiries to receiving companies in Vietnam to obtain additional information and continues to monitor the situation. No new data had been reported as of the time of publication.
