Fatal collision on Chalermprakiat Rama IX
In Thailand, on the island of Phuket, a fatal traffic accident involving a Russian citizen occurred on the evening of November 5. A Triumph motorcycle driven by a 29-year-old Russian citizen collided with a black Mercedes driven by a 45-year-old Thai resident named Patcharin. The motorcyclist died at the scene from his injuries. This was reported by Life.ru citing SHOT data: the deceased was named Ilya, and he was from Saint Petersburg. The accident took place on Chalermprakiat Rama IX Road in the Ratsada district.
Circumstances and chronology of previous accidents
According to preliminary data, the motorcycle crashed into the rear of the car; the impact spun the vehicle around. The local outlet The Phuket News confirms the nature of the damage: the Mercedes sustained serious damage to the rear left part of its body, while the yellow Triumph was badly wrecked. Police have begun investigating the circumstances: officers are questioning those involved and gathering evidence; the final causes of the collision have not yet been established. According to SHOT, in Russia the deceased was engaged in entrepreneurship — in May 2026 he and his friends founded a company — and posted on social media about his motorcycle trips around Phuket.
Context: this is not the first death of a Russian citizen on the island
This is not the first such incident on Phuket in recent months. As Life.ru notes, in early October, a 32-year-old Russian citizen died after a traffic accident on the island, and the Russian Consulate General later confirmed that a 17-year-old Russian citizen, who was hospitalized in a coma, had also been involved in that incident. Diplomats maintained contact with his mother and helped the relatives of the deceased repatriate his body. Available publications do not yet report any assistance from the consulate to the family of the deceased in the current accident.
