The key facts
- Scouts of the Sever group have begun using the silent ZALA Z-16 drone on the Kharkiv axis.
- The new aircraft helped detect and destroy a Ukrainian Armed Forces ammunition depot with a Tornado-S MLRS strike.
- The new drone costs ten times less than the previous model and can evade interceptors.
New reconnaissance system on the Kharkiv axis
Scouts of the Sever (North) group of forces have begun using a new, virtually silent ZALA Z-16 drone on the Kharkiv axis. The aircraft is used to detect Ukrainian Armed Forces positions and adjust strikes by aviation and long-range artillery. The ZALA company reported that the Ukrainian military themselves revealed the location of a large ammunition depot: regular movements of large military vehicles to a hangar attracted the attention of aerial reconnaissance operators. After the coordinates were fixed, a Tornado-S multiple rocket launcher crew moved to a firing position and delivered a precise strike, destroying the depot and the enemy's transport vehicles, as reported by Life.ru.
Tactical specifications and results of use
The new drone is capable of independently evading interceptor drones, and its cost, according to servicemen, is ten times lower than the price of the previous model. The UAV not only identifies targets but also records the results of the rocket artillery's work. Earlier, in October, units of the Sever group destroyed more than 500 Ukrainian Armed Forces dugouts in the Kharkiv region, using aerial reconnaissance data to pass coordinates to strike drone operators and artillery crews.
