Meena Sareen, a former math teacher from India, won 25 million dirhams in the latest Big Ticket draw, The National reports. She was announced as the grand prize winner during the draw's live broadcast on Tuesday. Sareen is originally from Punjab, has lived in the UAE for about 18 years, and currently runs the household in Dubai together with her husband.
How the ticket was bought and what the winner plans to do with the money
According to Sareen, she has been taking part in Big Ticket draws for about four years and had been buying tickets every month for more than a year, sharing the cost with two other people — and it is with them that she will split the winnings. A prize for a family with a sick child and a car for an Al Ain resident
Other prizes were also announced in the same draw. Indian expatriate Kaja Tuliyat, who lives in Al Ain, won a new Range Rover Velar in the Dream Car draw. Couple Inesh Mohan and his wife — originally from Sri Lanka and South Africa — received an additional 90,000 dirhams under the Richard and Bouchra's Choice prize. Earlier, they had won 10,000 dirhams as consolation prize winners in the fourth season of Dear Big Ticket. Their seven-year-old son Zak suffers from a severe neurological condition: he is deaf, blind and bedridden, and requires constant care. The family dreamed of owning a home for their son, invested in real estate, but was unable to keep up the payments and faced legal claims from the developer. When the couple came to the Big Ticket office to collect their first prize, they were told about the special award; they intend to use the money to pay off the real estate debt.

Big Ticket has launched its November promotion: the grand prize of 25 million dirhams will be drawn on December 3, and five more consolation prizes of 100,000 dirhams each will go to winners during the live broadcast.
