What the rules require of patrol officers

The outlet reminds readers that the procedure for road patrol officers when interacting with road users is approved by a Cabinet of Ministers resolution of December 1, 2018. Under paragraph 48 of this regulation, during a pursuit or observation, to ensure their own safety and the safety of road users, a DPS officer must keep special light and sound signals on at all times, choose driving speed based on the specific conditions, and inform their unit or the internal affairs duty officer of where they are heading, where they are, and in what direction they are moving. Whether the chase in Otyinsoy met these requirements has not yet been officially assessed: the agency has not commented, and the circumstances are known mainly from the words of a victim's relative and the outlet's source.
