Amazon unveils smart photo frame and sleep clock

Amazon has introduced five new devices with support for the Alexa voice assistant, including two entirely new types of gadgets: the Alexa Photo Frame smart photo frame and the Echo Time smart alarm clock. The presentation took place on October 28, 2026, according to TechCrunch. The new photo frame features a 10-inch display with a matte anti-glare coating, calibrated specifically for displaying photos to mimic the look of a paper print or a painting on the wall. The device integrates with user accounts: Prime subscribers get unlimited storage in Amazon Photos, while Alexa+ artificial intelligence automatically selects images, taking into account the season, the presence of smiles in photos, and filtering out screenshots or receipts. The device is priced at $199.99 for the black version and $229 for models with a birch or walnut wooden frame.

Echo Time as an alternative to smartphones in the bedroom

The Echo Time smart clock was designed with the growing user demand to stop using smartphones as alarm clocks and sources of morning information in mind. The device, priced at $199.99 ($209.99 for the kids' version), comes with sleep-tracking features that allow waking the owner during the light sleep phase within a window of 10 to 60 minutes before the set time, making waking up less jarring. Like the popular Hatch brand clocks, Echo Time can simulate a sunrise for a gentle wake-up. Amazon emphasizes that the bedroom requires a different approach to devices than the kitchen or living room, which is why the clock was created specifically for that room.

Echo lineup updates and new visual intelligence features

In addition to the new devices, Amazon has updated its existing gadget lineups. The Echo Dot smart speaker received a built-in smart home control hub and an eero Wi-Fi extender that increases coverage by 1,000 square feet. The new device runs on the proprietary AZ3 chip, which speeds up processing of Alexa+ requests. The flagship Echo Studio model now includes a built-in camera that allows checking on your home remotely, along with visual intelligence features: the camera can recognize objects, such as cereal boxes or board games, and help with reordering them or explaining the rules. The new Echo Dot is priced at $99.99, and the Echo Studio with camera at $249.99. Also introduced was the Echo Show 16 with a 16-inch display, which is 10% larger than the previous model with a bezel reduced by 40%, featuring built-in Fire TV and a digital photo frame function; pre-orders are open at a price of $499.99.
