Talks in New Delhi

Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs, held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the two-day NDTV World Summit. The sides considered ways to expand bilateral ties within the existing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the countries.

Summit themes

The interlocutors discussed the central themes of the conference: shifts in the global economy, the role of artificial intelligence and technology in driving development, and the importance of international partnerships for addressing current challenges. According to The National, the meetings demonstrate the strength of relations between long-standing allies, dating back to the founding of the Emirates.

Ministerial-level contact

On Monday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, during a working visit to India, met in Mumbai with India's Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. Sheikh Abdullah noted that the UAE-India partnership continues to gain momentum, strengthening both countries as important drivers of global economic growth.

Context of bilateral relations

About four million Indian citizens live in the UAE — the country's largest expatriate community. In May, Modi made an official visit to the Emirates, where he met with President Sheikh Mohamed. In January, Sheikh Mohamed paid a working visit to New Delhi, where the sides agreed to deepen cooperation in artificial intelligence, the economy and food security. In 2024, Modi made a two-day visit to the UAE: he spoke before 40,000 spectators at Zayed Sports City stadium, addressed the World Government Summit in Dubai and inaugurated the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi.
