The key facts
- Unitree unveiled the H2-X security robot based on the H2 platform: about 182 cm tall, 70 kg, 31 degrees of freedom.
- In the video, the robot jumps from a four-meter height, strikes a car, and performs flips; the company says the footage was not sped up.
- About eight hours of autonomous operation is claimed, but measurement conditions are not specified; the base H2 runs about three hours with a 15 Ah battery.
Capability Demonstration
Chinese company Unitree has shown the H2-X security robot, built on the basis of its existing H2 platform. A short published video demonstrates the machine's physical capabilities and staged scenes related to protecting people. At the start of the clip, the robot climbs onto the roof of a car at a scrapyard and performs a backflip, then strikes the car with its knee, elbows, and fists — leaving noticeable dents on the doors and hood. The H2-X then jumps from a platform shown to be four meters high, tumbles after landing and gets back on its feet; it then performs jumps with strikes and flips. According to Unitree, the video reflects real tests, and the footage speed was not accelerated.
Security and Rescue Scenes
Other segments of the video show staged security and rescue scenarios. In one episode, the robot stands between a woman and an armed person and forces the latter to back off. In another, it pushes aside a person standing in the path of an approaching car. In yet another scene, the robot lifts the front end of a car to extract a mannequin underneath it — that is, only part of the car is lifted, not the entire vehicle.
Technical Specifications and Uncertainty
Detailed technical specifications of the H2-X have not yet been fully disclosed. The company says a fully charged battery lasts about eight hours of operation, but it does not specify under what load regime this figure was obtained; prolonged walking and intense jumps may reduce battery life. For comparison, the standard H2 model runs about three hours with a swappable 15 ampere-hour battery; no information is provided about which battery or energy-saving solutions are used in the new model. According to published data, the H2-X stands about 182 centimeters tall and weighs 70 kilograms, matching the base H2 model. The robot has 31 degrees of freedom: six in each leg, seven in each arm, three in the lumbar section, and two in the head.
