Scheme with forged documents

An employee of a fishery company in Primorye has been accused of organizing the illegal export of nearly 40 tons of Kamchatka crab to East Asian countries. The cost of the seafood exceeded 70 million rubles, said Irina Volk, official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the investigation, the woman helped prepare export documents for a company engaged in marine fishing but lacking permission for foreign deliveries. To circumvent the restrictions, false information about the producer of the products was listed in the papers.

Abuse of official position

Law enforcement believes the defendant worked not only at the fishery company but also part-time at a veterinary station for the control of animal diseases. According to the investigation, she used her official position to participate in the scheme together with employees of the fishing company. Thanks to the forged documents, the large consignment was smuggled across the customs border.

Progress of the case

The illegal export was uncovered by officers of the transport police in Vladivostok. After her detention, the woman was charged under the article on smuggling of strategically important resources. During the proceedings, she is under a recognizance not to leave and to behave properly. 'At present, the criminal case has been sent to court for consideration on its merits,' said Irina Volk. Investigators have completed gathering evidence; the circumstances of the alleged crime are yet to be assessed by the court.
