Nursery Schools for Babies from Two Months
In the Tver region, parents have begun enrolling children in nursery schools from the age of two months: babies can be left for a few hours or for the whole day. This is reported by RG.ru. According to regional authorities, new places are being created under the national project 'Family'.
Scale and Demand
Currently, 32 nursery groups operate in the region, attended by 238 children. The groups are open in all four districts of Tver, as well as in the Konakovsky, Spirovsky and Kashinsky districts. The nursery at Kindergarten No. 2 in Tver proved especially in demand: a group for children from two months to one year opened on 18 September, and all ten places are already taken. The youngest pupil is six months old. 'We did not expect such demand,' admitted the institution's director Tatyana Belyaeva.
Who Uses the Nurseries and How Admission Works
According to Belyaeva, among the parents there are full-time students, families with many children, and public-sector employees. To enrol a child, a special medical record must be obtained from a paediatrician. While the babies are going through adaptation, they spend two to three hours at the nursery.
Facilities and Meals
Play areas have been equipped for the children with playpens, baby walkers and pendulum cribs; other institutions have dry pools and sensory equipment. Trained caregivers work with the children, and medical support is organised when necessary. Once children begin staying longer, meals will be provided taking into account their age and individual needs: parents will be able to bring food from home or provide a meal card, according to which the cooks will prepare the necessary dishes.
Context
Earlier, Life.ru reported, citing the Ministry of Education, that the queue for nursery places in Russia had decreased 48-fold compared with 2019 thanks to the national project 'Demography'. At the same time, the development of nursery infrastructure remains a pressing issue: in February, Vladimir Putin instructed the government to assess the demand for groups for children under three and to prepare additional support measures for public and private preschool institutions.
