The key facts
- Alexander Novak suggested that previous volumes of diesel exports could be restored by the end of 2026
- Exports are being increased gradually, within the capabilities of Russian refineries
- Before the restrictions, monthly exports amounted to about 3.5 million tonnes; the priority is the domestic market
Restoration of exports possible by the end of the year
Russia may return to its previous volumes of diesel fuel exports by the end of 2026 if the planned schedule is maintained. This forecast was voiced by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak to journalists in St. Petersburg. According to him, in that case foreign partners will once again be able to receive the usual volumes of Russian diesel.
Exports are being increased according to refinery capabilities
The pace of supply recovery, Novak explained, depends on the capabilities of domestic refineries. At present, Russian enterprises are not yet ready to supply foreign buyers with fuel in the previous quantities, so exports are being increased gradually. 'I want to emphasize that we are not restoring the full volume of exports right now, but within the capabilities of our refineries,' Life.ru quoted the deputy prime minister as saying.
Priority — the domestic market
It was previously reported that Russia intends to send abroad only surplus diesel fuel after supplying the domestic market. According to Novak, before the restrictions were introduced, monthly exports amounted to about 3.5 million tonnes. The deputy prime minister stressed that the needs of Russian buyers remain the priority.
