Investigative actions at the National Bank head's
Officers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) on the morning of October 21 are conducting investigative actions at addresses connected with the Governor of the country's National Bank, Andriy Pyshny. This was reported by Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko*, adding that the anti-corruption bodies are working in the official office of the National Bank head and at other addresses related to him. “NABU and SAP are right now conducting investigative actions in the office and at other addresses of National Bank head Andriy Pyshny,” he wrote on his Telegram channel. The events were also reported by deputy Yaroslav Zhelezniak. The parliamentarians did not disclose details about the nature of the activities.
Unknown details and context
It is not yet known within which criminal proceedings the actions are being carried out and what procedural status Pyshny has. There have been no reports of suspicion being brought against him or of his detention. Pyshny has headed the National Bank of Ukraine since October 2022; before that, he ran the state-owned Oschadbank. He has previously been at the center of scandals: in August 2026, a Kyiv court ordered the State Bureau of Investigation to verify a possible forgery of his diploma — the reason was statements by economist Borys Kushniruk about alleged violations during Pyshny's admission to the Ukrainian Academy of Banking. In the same month, Bloomberg reported Volodymyr Zelensky's dissatisfaction with the National Bank head over his close contacts with the IMF and his tight monetary policy. In June, the Rada discussed Pyshny's possible dismissal, but no replacement was found at the time. In August, NABU and SAP carried out a special operation involving employees of Zelensky's office, and in September they came with searches to the office of the prosecutor general. Whether the current actions are connected with the verification of Pyshny's education or with another case is unknown.
