In Bashkiria, doctors saved a man who had been carrying a dental prosthesis with five gold teeth in his bronchus for a long time. This was reported by the republic's health minister Airat Rakhmatullin on his Telegram channel. The patient was troubled by a persistent cough, but he did not seek medical help for a long time, attributing the ailment to age or a cold. Doctors initially suspected pneumonia, but during the examination they found a foreign body in the bronchi.
How the prosthesis ended up in the airways
It turned out that the man had lost his dental prosthesis in his sleep and did not attach any importance to it. According to the health ministry, the prosthesis had been moving through the airways for about a year; however, a publication by Gazeta.Ru also contains an indication that the patient had carried it in his bronchus for two years — the source itself presents conflicting data. The prosthesis got stuck in the lumen of the right bronchus.
The course of the operation and the patient's condition
Using a special loop, the doctors removed the prosthesis from the bronchus. According to the Bashkiria health ministry, nothing threatens the man's life or health.
