The key facts
- Layering is a key tool for autumn looks, but without piling on clothes arbitrarily
- Contrast of densities: a cashmere turtleneck with a tweed jacket and an oversized coat
- Combining textures: leather with mohair, wool with cotton
Designer's tips for autumn looks
A stylish and warm autumn look can be created by skillfully combining basic items, clothing designer and sewing course instructor Konstantin Tomashevsky told VSE42.RU. In his view, in the cold season layering is one of the main tools for putting together outfits: it allows you to combine ordinary basic pieces without overloading the look, instead making it well thought out.
Rejecting the 'cabbage rule'
At the same time, the designer urged abandoning the 'cabbage rule', when clothes are simply layered on in arbitrary order. According to him, it is important to maintain a fine line of contrasts: for example, a thin cashmere turtleneck can be paired with a dense tweed jacket, finishing the look with an oversized coat with sharp shoulders.
Playing with textures
Another technique, the specialist said, is combining different textures: leather looks good with fluffy mohair, while wool pairs well with light cotton. 'It is precisely at the junction of different densities that that very expensive nonchalance is born, the thing we love the autumn season for,' he concluded.
Season trend from Alexander Rogov
Earlier, the host of 'Fashion Verdict', stylist Alexander Rogov, named a festive trend of the autumn season — according to him, fringe is especially relevant during this period. He also previously advised how to wear Bermuda shorts in winter.
