Myasnikov's opinion on young people's habits
TV presenter and doctor Alexander Myasnikov told kp.ru that one of the main problems of today's young generation has become the abuse of medications — painkillers, antidepressants and other drugs. 'It seems to me that they abuse antidepressants and painkillers; at the slightest problem, they pop pills. He won't work on his shoulder — it's easier to swallow a handful of painkillers. Or if he's feeling down, he'll go to a doctor, who will prescribe him an antidepressant that he then takes in horse-sized quantities,' Myasnikov noted.
The reason and sales data
In the doctor's opinion, young people's approach to consuming antidepressants arose as a result of attempts to copy the West. Myasnikov also reported that in recent years antidepressant sales in Russia have grown significantly, and the number of medications purchased is breaking previous records.
Who buys antidepressants
Head of the Alliance of Pharmaceutical Associations Viktoria Presnyakova previously said that the main consumers of antidepressants in Russia are women, and the drugs are most often purchased at a young age: among the total number of patients, 67% are women aged 25 to 40. Earlier, Myasnikov also explained the sharp demand among Russian youth for holidays at sanatoriums.
