Injury will require surgery
The Prima Pramac Yamaha team announced on Tuesday that 30-year-old Turkish rider Toprak Razgatlioglu will not compete for the rest of the 2026 MotoGP season. He dislocated his right shoulder as a result of a highside crash during practice at the Indonesian Grand Prix at Mandalika earlier this month. On Monday he underwent additional medical examinations in Milan, which showed the injury is more serious than initially believed. Surgery is scheduled in Milan for next Monday, after which the rider will begin rehabilitation.
Missed rounds and replacement
Razgatlioglu will miss the final five rounds of the championship, starting with the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island this weekend. He will be replaced by Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez, who will compete in all remaining races of the season.
Rider's words
“I am very upset to be missing the Australian Grand Prix. Phillip Island is one of my favourite tracks, where I had special moments in my Superbike career,” Razgatlioglu said in a team statement. “It was a difficult decision, but after consulting with doctors and loved ones we are confident this is the right step for my future,” he added.
Debut season in MotoGP
Razgatlioglu — a three-time Superbike world champion — joined Prima Pramac Yamaha in the 2026 season, which marked his debut in MotoGP.
