Clean-up after the floods in Els Poblets

Residents of Els Poblets, a town near Alicante in eastern Spain, began cleaning up on Monday after Storm Adam brought severe flooding to the region. Euronews reports. Residents carried mud-covered furniture outside and piled it next to their houses, while sweeping thick layers of mud out of kitchens and living rooms.

Consequences for residents

Some residents said the floodwaters rose more than 1.5 metres and destroyed almost everything inside their homes. “We cannot use a single thing,” said 56-year-old Candy Vanes, whose house was badly damaged. Emergency services arrived on site to assess the destruction, while residents set about clearing their homes and salvaging whatever had survived.
