The key facts

  • From October 21, the 'odd-even' system, gasoline limits, and the ban on filling canisters will be cancelled in Lipetsk Region — the decision was announced by Governor Igor Artamonov.
  • Gas stations will be able to independently limit sales volumes at individual stations based on fuel reserves and delivery schedules.
  • Previously, restrictions were introduced to reduce queues and distribute cars more evenly between gas stations.

Restrictions to be lifted from October 21

From October 21, all regional restrictions on gasoline sales will be lifted in Lipetsk Region. Governor Igor Artamonov announced this on social media. Motorists will again be able to refuel regardless of their car's number, buy fuel without limits set by the authorities, and fill it into canisters. 'Starting tomorrow, October 21, we are lifting all restrictions on refueling cars in Lipetsk Region. We are cancelling the 'odd-even' rule, gasoline sale limits, and the ban on filling canisters,' the head of the region wrote.

What will cease to apply

In the region, the system under which cars could refuel only on certain days depending on the digit of their state license plate will cease to apply. Restrictions on the amount of gasoline sold to a single customer are also being lifted.

Local limits remain possible

Local restrictions cannot be completely ruled out yet: according to Artamonov, gas station chains will be able to independently regulate sales volumes at individual stations based on available fuel reserves and delivery schedules. The governor emphasized that there will be no additional restrictions for motorists from the regional government, while the authorities will continue to monitor the situation on the fuel market. 'I expect that we will not have to return to restrictions. We will continue to monitor the situation and act as needed. Thank you to all residents of the region for their patience and understanding,' Artamonov noted.
